Events during the 100th anniversary year of the Ehrensvärd Society

Various events will be held on Suomenlinna during the summer of 2021 to celebrate the anniversary. Lectures on the themes of the “Fortress of Three Nations” double exhibition will be held in May–June and in the autumn. Thematic tours related to the exhibition will be provided for the public and upon order for groups. Guided tours will dive into the maritime history of Suomenlinna as a naval base of three nations. You can book a tour at the National Archives or the Suomenlinna Museum, or you can visit both museums during the same day.

Guided tours will be arranged at the Ehrensvärd Museum, and you can watch the 18th century’s name day celebrations at the “Fredrik’s Birthday” event. In September, the 300th anniversary of Fredrik Henrik af Chapman’s birth will be celebrated on Suomenlinna during thematic tours and sailing on cannon sloop Diana. The Ehrensvärd Museum will host diverse events, and you can learn more about Chapman and the island navy at an exhibition. The summer will also feature art workshops where you can paint your souvenir of Suomenlinna, assisted by Charlotta, a historical artist.
